Date circa 1940
Description Shipping crate made of thin wooden material and is nailed together. Crate has two compartments with a divider. Has a colored label at one end of a pile of citrus fruit and says:
"INDIAN RIVER / ACME / BRAND / CITRUS FRUIT" Along the label's top in smaller letters it says "PACKED BY / FORT PIERCE CO-OPERATIVE" and on the bottom "FORT PIERCE / FLORIDA / U.S.A." Along the sides is printed in large letters "Indian River / Citrus Fruits".

Condition Notes Front end panel is loose at top and pulling away from crate on interior. Label is faded and has several areas of loss throughout. Panels on proper left side of crate have horizontal cracks throughout. Vertical strip of wood that attaches proper left side slats to back panel is broken off at bottom left half of piece. Bottom back slat on proper left side is broken at bottom right corner and has large "sliver" of wood near break. Back end panel has numerous horizontal cracks that have allowed portions of the panel to pull away from the crate frame. Slats on proper right side of crate are warped. The bottom slats have several horizontal cracks and are splintered along the bottom edges. Vertical piece of wood that attaches side slats to back panel is broken at the top left corner and splintered along left edge. Dividing panel on interior of crate is splintered.
