|Scope & Content||
One album book, lettered "Ancient and Royal Order of Clock Winders / Orange County Historical Museum". Inside book is a short paragraph about when the 1892 Courthouse clock was first wound in the late 1800s by William Sherman. Below paragraph are the signatures of seven (7) clock winders and the approximate date that they were first asked to wind the clock. Inside the front cover is a color photograph of Mr. John Bethea, 1978, who wound the clock for many years.
Also, found with this book, were the original instructions for the clock, titled, "DIRECTIONS FOR THE CARE OF A TOWER CLOCK" published by The E. Howard Watch & Clock Co.
|Condition Notes||Album book is in good condition. "Directions" sheet is in very poor condition and is extremely fragile. Discoloration along bottom indicates water damage.|
