Title W. R. O'Neal "Memoir of a Pioneer" Columns Scrapbooks
Scope & Content Three scrapbooks comprised of W. R. O'Neal's "Memoirs of a Pioneer" columns that he wrote for the Orlando Sentinel from 1931-1967. In the columns, O'Neal writes about the early, 19th century, history of Orlando.

FF 1 contains "Memoirs of a Pioneer" columns from 1931-1932.

FF 2 contains additional 'Memoirs of a Pioneer' columns as well as other material. These include a ticket and certificate identifying Mr. O'Neal as an Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms at the 1936 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, a hand-cut silhouette of Mr. O'Neal, a program from the Curtis & O'Neal Company 50th Anniversary dinner held in O'Neal's honor at the University Club on March 12, 1937, several letters sent to Mr. O'Neal by national figures, including Charles Evans Hughes (Chief Justice of the Supreme Court), Cordell Hull (Secretary of State), and Hugh Cummings (Executive Assistant to the Secretary of State), a diploma recognizing O'Neal's fifty years in the Order of Knights of Pythias, two (2) 50 year histories of Rollins College, and a resolution recognizing O'Neal's 50 years "as a man of business and affairs in...Orlando".

FF 3 contains more "Memoirs of a Pioneer" columns and other newspaper clippings, 1945-1967.

Condition Notes Pages of the scrapbooks are very brittle and have yellowed with age.
