Documents pertaining to the Miss Florida pageant when it was managed by the Orlando Jaycees, 1969-1990. This collection includes three series:
SERIES I: VINCENT AMICO PERSONAL RECORDS
Includes Mr. Amico's papers produced while he was a judge and board member of the Miss Florida Pageant. Amico served in varying roles but had a ten year tenure as vice president of the Pageant. Documents collected include Amico's personal correspondence with pageant contestants, professional correspondence, legal and organizational documents produced during those years to include the by-laws of the organization, meeting minutes, and information about the Miss Florida pageant as a franchise of the larger Miss America pageant.
SERIES II: MISS FLORIDA PAGEANT
Includes publication and advertising materials on Miss Florida contestants, winners, and pageants. This series has documentation collected over Carolyn Cline's resignation in 1978, contestant's contracts, other legal documentation, promotional materials, tickets, brochures with appearance rates and other information that were published for each girl named Miss Florida, and a small collection of magazines that featured former Miss Floridas (Melissa Aggeles, Delta Burke, Molly Pesce). Program books for each pageant are included for the years 1969-1990. Also includes an oversize folder of advertisement posters dated 1971, 1972, 1973, 1979, 1981.
SERIES III: MISS AMERICA PAGEANT
Includes information on and other documentation pertaining to the Miss America Pageant. Contestant brochures, scholarship information, state pageant directories, and other printed material is included in this series. Program books for each pageant are included for the years 1974-1990.
SERIES IV: MULTI-MEDIA
Includes thirteen VHS tapes: ten recordings of the Miss Florida Pageant (1987, 1989, 1990, 1992) and the Miss America Pageant (1987, 1990 (3), 1992) and three additional miscellaneous VHS tapes. Also included in this series is a small film reel of "Miss Florida at Sea World" and a sealed cassette tape with recordings by Molly Scott Pesce.
