Pamphlet entitled "On the Back Bone of Florida / GOTHA / The New Colony in Orange County, FLA". It is an 1883 advertisement, the purpose of which was to induce people to come and settle the land in and around Gotha. It touts the areas natural advantages, such as its pleasant climate, fertile ground, healthy environment, and natural beauty, as well as its man-made improvements, such as a hotel, lumber processing facilities, a store, a soon-to-be-built post office, and a future railroad, which would make the transport of goods and passengers to and from the area speedier and easier.
On the reverse side is a map showing the area immediately around lakes Eugene, Carp, and Olivia.
